6-lesson course · about 8 hours
Turn unclear work requests into briefs and recommendations people can act on
For Consultants, project leads, managers and professionals who turn information into plans, decisions and client work
Everything for ProfessionalsA self-paced course for professionals: use AI to write a clear project brief, compare options against the evidence, and draft next-step messages, with evidence, judgment and approval kept separate.
What you’ll be able to do
By the end, you can…
How it works
A tutor that meets you where you are
- Lessons that adapt to your levelSix lessons across two modules. Each one adjusts to what you already know, whether you're new to AI assistants or already use one every day.
- An AI tutor you can ask anythingType or speak your questions. The tutor explains, gives examples from your kind of work, and reviews the drafts you produce with a general AI assistant.
- Practice on a real or sample projectWork with a permitted example from your role or the supplied service-improvement scenario, building six practice outputs as you go.
- Quizzes and flashcards for each lessonShort quizzes and flashcards tied to every lesson help you check and keep what you've learned.
- Track progress and earn a certificateSee where you are in the course and receive a certificate of completion when you finish.
Curriculum
The curriculum
The course follows the path from an unclear request to a recommendation someone can use. Module 1 builds the brief; Module 2 turns it into options, follow-up messages and prompts you can reuse.
Module 1Turn a request into a working brief3 lessons
1Identify the decision and the user
- Identify the decision a request is meant to support and the person who will make or use it
- Separate what the requester actually asked for from what you assume they want
- Write a short working statement of decision, user, scope and constraints
- Choose which example to work with, a permitted one from your role or the supplied scenario, and check it is safe to share with an AI tool
2Summarize the supplied evidence
- Build a source summary that attributes each point to the source it came from
- Separate statements found in the sources from your own interpretation or judgment
- Test an AI-drafted summary against the original material and correct anything unsupported
- Explain why a source summary should be checkable by someone who has not read the sources
3Write an actionable project brief
- Write a project brief that states the decision, user, scope, constraints and evidence basis
- Build a requirement note that distinguishes agreed requirements from assumptions and open questions
- Write a clear open question that names what is missing, why it matters and who could answer it
- Check an AI-drafted brief for missing information presented as agreed
Module 2Prepare a recommendation people can use3 lessons
4Compare practical options
- Choose a small set of practical options that genuinely address the decision in the brief
- Compare options against the evidence and constraints using consistent criteria
- Explain the trade-offs of each option in plain language
- Build a recommendation that labels evidence, judgment and items needing approval separately
5Draft the next-step communication
- Build a meeting agenda that is organized around the decisions and open questions the meeting must resolve
- Write an action-note draft and status paragraph that distinguish agreed actions from proposed ones
- Write a next-step message a stakeholder can act on without needing further context
- Test drafts for inferred owners or deadlines presented as agreed commitments
6Refine prompts for your role
- Explain which parts of a prompt most affected the quality of your outputs
- Build reusable prompts for your role's common tasks: summarizing, briefing, comparing options and drafting messages
- Test a refined prompt by comparing its output against the sources and the brief
- Build a short review checklist you apply before using any AI output
Who it’s for
Made for you if…
Made for: Consultants, project leads, managers and professionals who turn information into plans, decisions and client work
Consultants
You often get a loose client request and need to return something clear and checkable before every answer is known.
Project leads
You own the space between what was asked and what the team delivers, and need briefs that separate agreed requirements from assumptions.
Managers
You need recommendations and status updates that show the evidence, your judgment and what still needs approval.
Professionals who turn information into plans
You summarize, plan and draft every week and want AI output you can check against the source material before you use it.
Questions
Good to know
Do I need coding or AI platform experience?
No. You need basic use of a word processor and PDF files, and access to a general AI assistant for practice tasks.
Will I work with OpenAI Dots or Claude Duet in this course?
No. Hands-on platform practice, creating proactive agents and handing continuing project work to OpenAI Dots or Claude Duet start in the Intensive course. The briefs and review standards you practice here prepare you for it.
Can I use my own work example?
Yes, if it's a real example you are permitted to use with an AI tool. Otherwise you can use the supplied service-improvement scenario. The first lesson helps you check that your example is safe to share. The course does not cover legal or compliance rules for confidential or employee records.
What will I produce?
Six practice outputs: a meeting agenda, an action-note draft, a source summary, a requirement note, a status paragraph and an open question.
How long does it take?
About 8 hours, self-paced, across six lessons.
What level is it for?
It takes you from beginner to intermediate. It suits people who have used a general AI assistant for everyday tasks and want a more reliable working method.
